Diesel is one brand of underwear that has eluded me. Search through my drawers of men's underwear, and you will find not a single pair of Diesel. I'm not quite sure how that has happened because I personally believe that Diesel has a very sexy and sporty design style in their underwear, but I've just never gotten around to purchasing any. Also, I rarely see Diesel in the form of product samples -- I hear that Diesel is doing limited edition runs of their men's underwear styles and all the retailers want to get the maximum benefit off their short supply.
All of this changed recently when MensUnderwearStore sent me a pair of the Diesel Lukex Brief in olive, which is part of the Diesel Over Dyed Cotton Stretch men's underwear line. This is a lineup that consists of long sleeve t-shirt, tank top, briefs and boxer briefs, all overdyed for unique and individualized colors. The hues are dark and understated, and they have very good look to them.
Not only do they look good, but they feel good, too. The stretch cotton gives with your body but holds its shape nicely, and it's very soft to the touch. These briefs have a functional fly, and they also sport a big and black Diesel-branded waistband. You'll never forget you're wearing Diesel with a waistband like this. Black vertical stripes decorate the sides of the briefs for some contrast with the overdyed color. As far as comfort and style go, I really like these briefs.
But, Houston, we have a problem. Maybe I got a bad pair of some sort, but one night as I moved to take off these briefs for a shower, my right thumb, hit the spot just under the waistband accidentally, and my thumb went straight through the fabric. I was totally shocked. I'm not sure whether the fabric separated from the waistband or actually created a hole, but I now have a good-sized hole back right where my butt starts. It's made the briefs unwearable, and I'm really sad because they were quickly rising onto my short list of favorite underwear. Again, maybe I just got a defective pair, but it put a damper on my excitement.
I appreciate MensUnderwearStore letting me try out this underwear, and I must note, in backing up my limited edition Diesel comment earlier, MensUnderwearStore seems to be the only site on the Web that has this specific Diesel line of underwear. I want to believe that every pair doesn't have the quality issue I ran into, and other than that element, I recommend this underwear for its comfort and styling. I wish I could give it high marks overall, but I'm afraid the hole in the butt is going to hurt its rating.
Alas, Diesel has eluded me again. Maybe someday, I can overcome this Diesel problem because once again I have no Diesel in my underwear drawers. I hope to have better Diesel experiences in the future because I really want to like their underwear.
