Someone at Jockey has noticed that I love their underwear. I know this because they recently sent me their latest offering -- but it's not available at Jockey.com. Instead, they have a new style exclusive to UrbanOutfitters.com. This new underwear is created by Jockey, but sold by UrbanOutfitters, which I found curious because it's always seemed you had to find a Jockey retail store, outlet store or department store to get your Jockeys.
I was surprised by the solid number of styles of underwear that UrbanOutfitters.com carries. They're made by major brands, and most of them look exclusive to UrbanOutfitters. I've heard of UrbanOutfitters before, but I'm not sure I've ever been to the site. And I definitely didn't know they had such a selection of great, creative men's underwear, including Diesel, Artificial Flavor and Paul Frank items.
But I have to give this new Jockey style rave reviews. If you've read UndiesDrawer for a while, you know that I really like Jockey for a solid basic brief worth your money. If you don't know what to wear, Jockey is great underwear to pull out. It's very consistent and predictable, and if you're in the mood to go for something in a basics style, Jockey will take care of you.

The images of the underwear at UrbanOutfitters don't do the color options justice. For some reason, they only have photos of one of the color lineups. These photos shown at the site are the yellow/purple/teal lineup, and there is also a black/grey/navy 3-pack. I'm sure the darker hues fit nicely for the more conservative crew, but I got the primary colors package, which the site calls red/green/blue, and I love them. Strong blasts of primary color blue, red and green came in a 3-pack tube, all with white stitching that creates a solid (non-functional) Y-front briefs appeal.
One of the distinctives of this new style is the waistband. The past year's models of big brand underwear have been all about the huge, flashy, branded waistband. In some of the newer styles, I'm wearing what feel like 2 to 3 inch waistbands on underwear, plastered with a whopping brand name or logo. This Jockey line instead goes old school.
The waistband is white, simple, and reminds me of something from the '70s or '80s. The name "Jockey" is clearly there, but it's nothing like the flashbang the other guys are putting on their waistband. Instead, it's a very cool, understated look that I really like.
And the wear is great! These briefs are lighter and more flexible in material than I expected. For some reason, the photos made me think the fabric was going to be bulkier. Instead, this light and carefree fabric fits perfectly with the style of brief they've created. They are very comfortable and fit every part nicely. These briefs lean toward the low-rise cut but not quite. And this is a truly subjective observation, but I believe the design of the pouch definitely does some bulge enhancement for me. Honestly, this 3-pack has become some of my favorite underwear lately, and it's nice to have a set of 3 to fill half my week. I would recommend them to anyone who likes a Y-front brief with color and a retro appeal.
MY RATING:
Overall, I give the Urban Outfitters Jockey Y-Fronts a total score of 9.5 based on the following criteria:

Great write up! I can certainly appreciate the bulge enhancement. A little bit goes a long way (no pun intended). Three cheers for jockey!! Hip Hip Hurray

Damn! I just tried to order some of these in red/green/blue and they are out of stock in my size! Do you know if they are going to be getting more, or if this is a one-time run for Urban Outfitters?
