First off, I have to put it out there that I am really flattered to have been given the opportunity to contribute to UndiesDrawer.com.
I am a 33 year old male and have worn underwear for just about my entire life. Does this make me an expert? Nope, not at all. Just gives me the experience to share with you what I think is important and why.
I have been asked to share with you what I have in my drawer and will be honest that I have to chuckle at that. Right now I do not have an "underwear drawer" as it were.
I moved a few months ago, across the continent mind you, and I sold my dressers and have not yet found ones that I like for my new place. So right now my "underwear drawer" is a file box in the bottom of my closet.
Practical? Yes (for now). Functional? Well, not so much. However, it does give me the chance to pull that box out of my closet and put it beside me for inspiration.
My appreciation for underwear might not be as simple as some would assume. I believe in the right tool for the right job. Have you ever tried to bang a screw into the wall with a wrench?
It seemed like for a while that is what I was facing and I gave up on underwear and went commando for a few years. The freedom was liberating but not always practical.
That was when I discovered Jockey Pouch Boxer Briefs.
Talk about comfort and function. Due to the size of my thighs, I learned that I needed to wear the longer leg to avoid "ride up".
These fit like a second skin, and I did not even realize that I was wearing underwear down to just above my knee.
That opened the door for me to realize that what I needed to achieve what I wanted (or maybe I can go so far as to say what I needed) from underwear was a cotton/lycra or cotton/spandex blend.
That took me over to discover Unico. Perfectly enough I discovered Unico from UndiesDrawer.com and ordered myself 5 pair.
Being that this was almost 2 years ago these pairs are well-used and worn and have been definitely one of the best purchases I have made.
A few other additions that I have made their way into my "underwear drawer" in the past have come from H&M.
I have to say that the undies I have bought there have added some fun to the function and form that I look for in underwear.
I have stuck with the cotton/lycra blend, but I do have a fun side that I like to explore. At times when the odd glimpse of what underwear I am wearing has been captured, the conversation has been fun.
H&M added to their men's underwear collection a line of Super Hero underwear much like the Underoos that were hot when I was a kid.
I never had a pair of Underoos when I was a kid, but I thought they were so cool. So being that I now pay my own bills, I get to buy the underwear I want.
All but one pair I own all have the Super Hero/Comic Book theme; Superman (covered in the classic comic strip), Incredible Hulk (again covered in the classic comic strip), Captain America (illustrated with one comic strip cell) and last but not least, a classic brief style, low rise, black with white accents and waist band.
Talk about comfort, function and form and -- heck! -- why not throw some fun in there!
I do have some of the classics in there as well, Jockey briefs, Calvin Klein briefs, Hanes briefs and even Old Navy classic tightie-whitie briefs. However, they do not get worn that often.
So there you have it. You now know what drawers are in my "drawer". Why not jump in and comment on this post and tell us what's in your undies drawers, or better yet, join the UndiesDrawer Forums and discuss and post photos for us to see.
