A while back, I was in Denver, Colorado, for the weekend, and I posted to ask our faithful UndiesDrawer readers for information on local brick & mortar men's underwear stores in Denver. I got a response recommending that I check out Denver's locally-owned men's underwear store Needz as well as leather and underwear store The Crypt, which is part of a 4-city, 6-store chain located in the western United States. I visited both stores, and I'm finally getting around to posting about the local Denver underwear stores. I'll cover Needz today and one of the The Crypt's Denver stores at a later date.
Needz is a locally-owned men's underwear store located south of downtown Denver at 135 Broadway. The store is owned by two gay partners of over 20 years named Craig and Joe, and they have operated this men's underwear storefront for about 2 years. I stopped in for an unannounced visit and met Joe, introduced him to UndiesDrawer, looked through his inventory and talked men's underwear for some time.
Needz is a cozy shop packed with men's underwear, mostly comprised of Unico, XXX, and Go Softwear items. I was impressed with the breadth of these brands they had on hand. Mundo Unico fills the front of the store, including both the classic styles of the past few years as well as the brand new Unico styles that we've reviewed here at UndiesDrawer. In the back of the clothing area is also a selection of Triple X brand men's underwear
Filling the rest of the clothing area was the biggest collection of Go Softwear men's underwear I've ever seen. Needz has so many colors of styles of Go Softwear that I lost track. Joe pulled this Go Softwear Suspension Jock below off a rack as one of their more popular items. He told me lots of stories about their clientele -- including husbands and wives who shop together, men who are shopping for something special for themselves, as well as the dancers who frequent the BoyzTown night club two doors down.
Behind the clothing section is a broad selection of erotica products, including lubes, c-rings, dildos, and all kinds of other products for those looking for some sexual fun.
I had a great experience at Needz. The atmosphere is personal, and while I was there, a few customers came in and Joe gave them attention as they needed it. They are proud of their local ownership, and it's clear that Needz works to meet the needs of their clientele by providing a mix of sexy and functional men's underwear. Sadly, they don't have a website -- actually while I was there, they asked if I thought they should get a web presence and I gave them a wholehearted "Yes!" Very cool story. I will have to check them out next time I am in Denver, CO.
