"Bring back the budgies for Beijing!" was the rallying cry in Brisbane of a group of guys who braved winter temperatures to demand the return of budgie smugglers at the Olympics. Budgie smugglers is Australian slang for a Speedo-style, bikini swimsuit.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald:
"The group paraded through the CBD in traditional swimming briefs in a mock protest against Olympic swimmers donning controversial LZR Racer bodysuits as part of a radio stunt led by Triple M's breakfast team."
The group claimed full body swimsuits were an "assault against good sportsmanship" and "completely unAustralian."
