CBS pulls Justus Boyz underwear ad for showing too much skin
We've been fans of Justus Boyz men's underwear for years now. They sent us samples in the early days of UndiesDrawer, and their wonderful fit and sexy appeal sucked us in. We've done reviews of their underwear in the past, and the Justus Boyz jockstraps are still at the top of my list.

Apparently, Justus Boyz was going to run underwear ads on the CBS Super Screen in Times Square in New York City. The CBS Super Screen is located under the giant CBS Network classic “Eye” logo on the Loews building directly across from the nations’ busiest bus terminal. According to Neutron Media, the supplier of the ad content for CBS, 1.5 million people pass this location daily.
Neutron Media worked with Justus Boyz to create a great video for the Super Screen ads, showing off the great looking guys that Justus Boyz is known for using in their underwear ads. One of the hallmarks of Justus Boyz advertising and branding is creative photography of good looking guys in an Abercrombie & Fitch style, not necessarily sexual but usually shirtless and often in just their underwear. You can view the video created by Neutron Media below.
We've just received word from Justus Boyz that CBS has pulled that ad as being too sexy and showing too much skin. The ad campaign was set to begin August 11, but Neutron Media had to go back to the drawing board and start all over in creating a more modest campaign. A new tamer campaign started August 19, and the new video is below, but you can see by comparing the two ads that the first campaign was much more effective in communicating that Justus Boyz is an underwear company. The tamer version is below.
Justus Boyz co-owners Phil Elam and Michael Boila are satisfied with the new spot, but noted how ironic it is that the ads were pulled in Times Square. "It just goes to show how careful CBS has become [since the infamous Janet Jackson / Justin Timberlake wardrobe malfunction during the 2004 Super Bowl Half Time Show produced by MTV.] The government clamped down so hard on them we can’t blame CBS for being so cautious," said Boila. For their part, CBS has offered no official comment on the matter.
You can buy Justus Boyz mens underwear at International Jock and at the Justus Boyz website.
