Underwear Review: Dick & Jane Fashion Slip CXY.211.02
I have made a mistake in not telling you about a fabulous underwear style earlier. I think I posted about it once a while back, but I never followed up and gave you all the facts.
A while back (we're talking MONTHS ago), an Austrian company I never heard of called Dick & Jane contacted me to give their mens underwear line a test run. I obliged them, and they send me a few items. In short, every single item they sent me was fabulous, consistent, comfortable underwear, and the reason I'm apologizing is that I've become so used to wearing them that I haven't taken time to shout their praises from the mountaintops for all to hear.
Although they sent me 3 or 4 items, in this review, I'm focusing on what their website so artistically refers to as the Fashion Slip CXY.211.02. These guys are from Austria, so you'll find they don't get into fancy names, but they make good underwear.
The Fashion Slip CXY.211.02 is a mid-cut brief made of a mix of 94% cotton and 6% elastane. The most noticeable thing about it is the waistband. This waistband is the king of all broad underwear waistbands. I've tried lots of underwear with wide waistbands but I think this one tops them all in width. I haven't pulled out a ruler on it, but it's easily over 2 inches and more like close to 3 inches wide. As you can see from the image, it has stripes of muted, stylish colors in a mix of green hues as well as black and white, wrapping all around the waistband.
The reason you notice the waistband so much is that the rest of these briefs don't require you to notice them. They just fit. Like I said, I wear lots of different styles of underwear from all over the globe, and I find that that it's amazing how so many different pieces require you to pay attention to them, adjusting here, shifting there, and just trying to stay comfortable. One of my prime measurements in reviewing underwear is how much I have to think about them -- the less I have to pay attention to the underwear during the wear, the higher they rank in my book.
The Dick & Jane Fashion Slip CXY.211.02 wears all day like a glove. These are full-coverage briefs, so they provide ample room for you in front and back. I don't experience any smooshing of my package or slippage of my butt cheeks. The fabric is thin enough that these undies don't get bulky or heavy but it's still substantial enough fabric that it's not too thin. As the fabric blend is mostly cotton, it feels like cotton, not a high-tech blend, but it still has stretch to it.
These briefs have become one of my preferred daily wear styles. I wear them weekly (which is saying alot when I have hundreds of briefs to choose from), and I don't think twice about them when they're on top of my briefs pile in the morning. They are very stylish, are available in black or white, and have a fashionable conservative feel to them as well, although the big waistband provides a bit of splash. I have no fear of being seen in them by anyone.
Dick & Jane is a distinctly European company with a sleek, understated style running amongst about 9 different styles of underwear in briefs and trunk styles. They also have other clothing as well, all with that stylish conservative look to them. They offer free delivery in Austria, as well as free delivery in 38 European countries and in Israel on order over 50 Euros.
Everything on their site is priced in Euros, and the CXY.211.02 is priced at 17.90 Euros, which my conversion calculator puts at about $26 in US Dollars. That's not bad for a pair of underwear with the solid construction and clean stylish colors and lines of the Dick & Jane brand, and I find this underwear hard to beat for its simple and stylish consistency. If you're looking for a new daily wear brief or trunk for your undies drawer, check out this underwear.
