I was checking out some celebratory men's underwear and found a bunch of different men's undies devoted to Saint Patrick's Day. Now I don't know if St. Patrick wore underwear or if he'd approve of any of this underwear. Here is what I do know about Saint Patrick.
He is the Patron Saint of Ireland having lived there circa 387 – 493. He is credited with driving the snakes from Ireland. (Just for the record and not wanting to take anything away from Saint Patrick, apparently there never were any snakes in post-glacial Ireland. Hmmm?) He also taught the people about the Holy Trinity by using the three-leaf clover. He died on March 17, 493. He is supposedly buried at the Down Cathedral in Downpatrick, Down County.
I also know that in the U.S. people of Irish descent wear green. like to party, enjoy eating corned beef and cabbage (which is NOT Irish) with potatoes and soda bread and love to parade on March 17. It's one hefty celebration.
So in that celebratory spirit here are some men's undies devoted to that day when it is said that "everyone is Irish!"
Pictured above are some men's briefs. (The hat and beard are extra.) They are strikingly green and lustrous. They have a gay (happy) feel. Love that shamrock and tight fit!
Next we have the beer undies or as I like to call them, "The Stereotypical Irish Disease Boxers." God knows, you're not Irish if you don't drink to excess! Right? Alcoholics wear these men's boxers proudly!
We then have the "Feeling Lucky Irish Men's Boxers" that are worn by guys who definitely will NOT be getting lucky. Def not. Hi-def not. But like the beer undies they are especially garish. (Which is one of the reasons you're not going to get lucky on Saint Patrick's Day.)
Of course, Snoopy has to get into the Irish act because he has managed to worm his way (sorry, Snoopy, not saying you have worms) into every American holiday. How has he done that? I don't know.
These are cute enough. But they are sort of insulting. You see, Snoopy is a beagle and beagles are NOT from Ireland. They are from ENGLAND. Ooops! Now that's a faux pax by a four paw.
Finally, there are personalized men's underwear for Saint Patrick's Day. These are really stylish. They're white boxers with green lettering and a green shamrock. I say, "Sham-rock-on, Irish brethren!"
So, if you're going out on Saint Patrick's Day or even of you're staying home, consider a pair of men's underwear that say, "Erin go bragh." (No, that's NOT a reference to women's underwear! It means, "Ireland forever!")
Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all!
